Nollywood star actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, has warned some politicians she claimed piling pressure on her to support and campaign for them to back off.
The
actress took to her Twitter page to tell an unnamed political party to
stop pressuring her to support their political ambition.
“So
much pressure on me to support them … Smh… You won’t have to hussle if
you were trustworthy… I do that for free! #backoff,” Omotola tweeted.
While
it is not clear which of the parties Omotola is referring to,
investigations revealed that most of the artistes have been patronising
the parties, with many Nollywood actors openly visiting them to pledge
their support and to even campaign for the parties and their candidates.
While the likes of Ibinabo Fiberesima, Segun Arinze, Rita
Dominic, Mercy Johnson, Lancelot Imasuen, Patience Ozokwo and Toyin
Aimakhu have publicly declared their support for the ruling Peoples
Democratic Party, Desmond Elliot, Foluke Daramola, Yomi Fash Lanso, Jide
Kosoko and a host of Yoruba and Hausa players in the industry have
thrown their weight behind All Progressives Congress.
In
spite of Omotola’s huge popularity in the movie industry, she has
remained apolitical. She prefers to spend most of her time in social
activism.
