Dog that looks like a mop has buckets of fun: Shaggy Puli's fur flies EVERYWHERE

Looking at it from a distance, you would be forgiven for thinking you were looking at a giant mop in the middle of a meadow.But you will actually find it's a Puli dog - a small to medium-sized breed from Hungary, which is famous for its long and shaggy fur.Photographer Monika Wegler captured the moment the dog leapt into the air while out with its owner outside Schäftlarn Abbey in Germany.

The pooch’s waterproof coat requires a controlled matting process to achieve the desired fur which looks like dreadlocks.It needs a large amount of grooming to keep the fur neat and clean. As it grows older, the fur gets much longer and reaches the ground.

She said: ‘Sometimes you are lucky and you get an extraordinary image like this. You always hope to get a good shot, but you need luck.'Some breeds tend to be funny in human eyes - one of them is the Puli. So you have a good chance to get a nice picture with this type.'

 Pulis were used as guard dogs and also for herding livestock. The breed's ancestry can be traced back more than 1,000 years to Asia.
